The ‘Vrij Werkeren’ project in Stadshagen covers a triangular site, entirely surrounded by greenery and water features. Stadshagen is green, spacious and lies on the outskirts of Zwolle. Water is a key feature of the neighbourhood. The river Zwarte Water, with its striking Mastenbroeker Bridge, connects Stadshagen with the lively centre of Zwolle. Just a stone’s throw from the neighbourhood lies the Milligerplas. A lovely spot for walking, fishing, swimming or having a cup of coffee at the ‘beach bar’. There are also plenty of opportunities for cycling in the area, whether through the expansive polder landscape or one of the many nature reserves around Zwolle. The proximity to the Stadshagen shopping centre, a ten-minute cycle ride away, is very convenient. This shopping centre forms the heart of the neighbourhood and, in addition to 35 shops, comprises a Fitness Centre, a Cultural Centre and a Health Centre. It is a ten-minute cycle ride to Zwolle’s historic city centre via the Twistvliet Bridge. A city bus also departs from the neighbourhood every quarter of an hour for the city centre.
