The shopping centre
Vathorst is set up as a bicycle-friendly neighbourhood. This means that a ring road has been constructed for through motorised traffic. You can enter the district from the ring road, but it is not possible to drive through from one subarea to another. The subareas are easily accessible via the ring road. Each subarea can be reached via one of sixteen (numbered) roundabouts. By bike, one of the many cycle paths will take you from one side of the neighbourhood to the other. The old ribbons (Heideweg, Veenweg and Duisterweg) provide attractive cycle connections.

More and more Vathorsters are discovering the convenience and speed of the train. Vathorst station is part of the Zwolle-Utrecht and Vathorst-Utrecht-Amsterdam sprinter line. Vathorst thus lives up to its image as a 'smart network place': both the Randstad and the 'outlying areas' are easily accessible. By investing in a good rail connection, Vathorst has made an advance on 'The New World of Work', which is mobile in nature and well facilitated in trains.

Vathorst shopping centre is the beating heart of Vathorst. It is fun to shop in the well-known large chains, but also in the special boutiques and food specialty shops. Every Friday between 18:00 and 21:00 there is a shopping night. Elsewhere in the district, you will also find small gift shops and service providers such as hairdressers.

Vathorst offers plenty of opportunities for sports and recreation. You can play sports at a good number of sports associations and clubs.
