He has succeeded in his ambition to create an atmosphere where people feel at home. Java Island has developed into a much-loved residential area, with a rich mix of architectural styles. Its central location is ideal. The Brazilië shopping centre is situated on the Oostelijke Handelskade, a six-minute cycle ride away. Here you’ll find supermarkets, banks, a dry cleaner’s, a hairdresser’s, a bakery, a butcher’s and all sorts of other shops. The centre of Amsterdam and Central Station can be reached within five minutes by bike, tram 10 or bus 48. The A10 ring road is easily accessible via the Piet Hein Tunnel.
