The De Halve Maan apartment block is situated on the sunny side of the IJ, with stunning views of the city and within walking distance of the ferry to Amsterdam city centre. De Halve Maan is a stylish, comfortable building situated on Spadinalaan in Amsterdam-Noord: low-rise, light and sleek. It is eight storeys high, with a total of 86 private-sector rental flats. With living areas ranging from approximately 54 to 137 m²; and almost all of them are different. There is a choice of 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-room private-sector rental flats, all of which have a balcony or terrace. A defining feature is the exceptionally large outdoor spaces combined with the spacious layout of the flats.

Right next to the ferry, which runs from Central Station to the Buiksloterwegvaart, lies the new Overhoeks neighbourhood on the northern banks of the IJ. In 1971, Shell opened its head office in the 100-metre-high Shell Tower.

All flats have a spacious balcony or terrace. The kitchen is fitted with built-in appliances and, in most cases, the bathroom features a bath, a shower cubicle and, often, a double washbasin.

The two entrance halls feature Belgian bluestone flooring and white-painted walls. There are a total of four lifts. De Halve Maen is built in a U-shape that curves like a crescent moon around a semi-public garden. There is a parking space for every flat in the car park beneath the residential complex.
Sustainability is a key focus at De Halve Maen. For example, the flats are heated and cooled via a thermal energy storage system (TES), there is low-temperature underfloor heating, and all windows are double-glazed (HR++). To ensure a comfortable indoor climate, the homes can be not only heated but also cooled. In summer, chilled water is fed through pipes into the ground, where it cools to around 18 degrees, before being recirculated to cool the home. The heat released is stored in the ground and used in winter to heat the building. The heating and cooling energy is generated using a heat pump. The high-efficiency glazing provides insulation, keeping the heat in and the cold out.

As well as trendy nightlife venues, Overhoeks has plenty of other amenities in the neighbourhood. Children can attend primary school there and then go on to the Hyperion Lyceum. For shopping, the trendy Van der Pekstraat shopping street and the Van der Pekmarkt are within walking distance.
