Its proximity to Amsterdam and the A2, A4, A9 and A10 motorways are key advantages of this residential area. Yet the neighbourhood exudes, above all, a sense of peace and friendliness. In the centre of the neighbourhood lies Kasterleepark, a lovely spot for fishing, walking, playing or exercising. Nature reserves such as De Nieuwe Meer and the Sloterplas are also within cycling distance. The shopping centre, on Belgiëplein, is a lively spot with two large supermarkets and all sorts of other shops, such as a bakery, a butcher’s, a chemist’s and a hairdresser’s. Tram 2 connects Nieuw Sloten with Amsterdam Central Station. Bus 195 runs directly to Schiphol.
