Along the leafy avenue that has linked the village of Apeldoorn with the Crown Estate of Het Loo since 1739, stately country houses were built during the nineteenth century, surrounded by beautiful gardens in the late landscape style.
In keeping with the surroundings, the architectural firm Friso Woudstra Architecten deliberately opted for a recognisable and distinctive architectural style that harks back to this past. Partially whitewashed façades set on a dark brick plinth, ceramic blue-glazed roof tiles and wooden window frames lend the buildings the grandeur of days gone by.

The rich history of this site in Apeldoorn has served as inspiration not only for the architecture of the buildings, but also for the design of the surrounding parkland by landscape architects Bangert and Van Hagen.
