With its six storeys and striking rounded corners, Solo is a real eye-catcher amongst Cartesius’s housing developments. The beautiful and spacious entrance hall provides access to this iconic residential complex. A communal and cosy courtyard garden is being created at the heart of the building. The living areas in Solo range from 74 to 110 m².
Within Cartesius, there is a strong focus on health, exercise, innovative energy solutions, healthy eating and sustainable (shared) mobility. The Solo building leads the way and is the first to be completed in this area.
Studio flats

On the ground floor, commercial spaces are situated on one side (the west façade). On the other side (the east façade), there are two types of studio flats (A and H2/H3). These homes are characterised by high ceilings (4.15 m) and a staircase leading to the living room or studio space. Another major advantage of the studio flats is that there is not only a separate entrance for private visitors, but also a separate access point from the façade for any business visitors.
The flats are intended for applicants working in the cultural or arts sector. This means you must be running a business from the flat and therefore have a studio or home-based business.

Solo also offers a range of three- and four-bedroom flats. The housing programme offers plenty of variety: private sector, mid-range rent and ‘friends’ flats. Whether you want to live with your partner, children or a friend, you decide the household composition. The ‘friends’ flats are unique in that you can share them with whoever you like; the living room and kitchen are shared, but they still offer plenty of privacy with a private bedroom and bathroom. Naturally, this flat can also be shared with your family.

Another wonderful benefit is that every flat has its own outdoor space and an internal storage room. At Cartesius, the motto is ‘healthy and green’, so there’s plenty of space for healthy activities. There are plenty of opportunities in the neighbourhood for a good run, a cycle ride or other sports. But there’s also plenty of space for a leisurely stroll. You can park your bike in the communal bike storage area in the basement. And by bike, you’ll be in Utrecht’s historic centre in no time.

Once Track is completed, you’ll have access to six car-sharing vehicles. There are no private parking spaces in the Solo building, and you won’t be eligible for a parking permit. Eleven paid parking spaces will be made available to Solo tenants beneath the Track building, which is yet to be constructed; however, these will only be available for use after completion (Q4 2023). There are no parking facilities in the public area.
