Living together in De Mix
Why De Mix? The name says it all. A mix of people live here together – side by side and with one another. Together with the inner courtyard, which is being developed as part of the project, the buildings form a healthy and sociable living environment where residents can meet and connect.

De Mix features a climate-adaptive roof, also known as a water-retaining roof. One of its major advantages is that, during our increasingly hot summers, it helps to smooth out heat peaks. During heavy rainfall – something we’re seeing more and more often in the Netherlands – a water-retaining roof has the advantage of absorbing rainwater, making it easier to manage. The rainwater is then collected in the building’s rainwater tank. Residents can use this to water their plants. The flats themselves are gas-free, each has its own air-to-water heat pump for cooling and heating, and special (plasma) filters are installed. The filters improve the air quality in the flats. This sustainable combination ensures a pleasant living environment.

Alongside the high-rise buildings typical of a city, Overvecht is green. In fact, it is the greenest neighbourhood in Utrecht. It has the highest number of trees per resident. Head to the park for a picnic, or use the green spaces for exercise. Take your children to one of the various playgrounds or visit the urban farm, for example. Whatever your idea of relaxation, you’ll have no trouble finding it here.

As if the neighbourhood didn’t have enough to offer already, you’ll also find the Overvecht shopping centre here. Residents from other parts of Utrecht make a special trip to Overvecht just for this. If you live in De Mix, it’s just a short walk away. You can head to the Overvecht shopping centre to shop, do your weekly shop, buy a present or pick up DIY supplies for your move. But that’s not all – the cosy shopping centre, with over a hundred shops, hasn’t forgotten about the restaurants and cafés either.

Maximum income: The properties are intended for middle-income households. A middle-income household is defined as one with an annual income not exceeding €67,366 for a single-person household and €89,821 for a multi-person household.

Priority groups: The allocation of rental properties is based on a lottery system, with priority given to ‘movers’ and ‘essential professions’ in accordance with the City of Utrecht’s policy. These groups must, however, meet the tenancy conditions.

- Mover: A house-hunter who, as the main tenant, actually and lawfully occupies an independent social housing property in the housing market region – not on the basis of the Vacancy Law – and leaves this property vacant after moving out, and this rental property is owned by a landlord who lets it through WoningNet/DAK;
